How many times have you decided you’re going to do that *new* thing to improve your life and after 3 days you’re back into your not-so-terrible-but-not-so-productive-routine?
All you wanted was to commit to your brand new 7 step morning routine where you wake up at 6:00 am, do some stretching, meditate, make your coffee, journal, eat breakfast, and listen to a podcast all before you have to leave your house by 7:30 am. Lol, *relates*.
I mean, same-same until I tapped into why this wasn’t working.

The patterns we sink back into without even thinking about it are rooted in the subconscious. Your subconscious is the massive data bank that holds all your memories and stores information from past experiences.
It’s the part of the mind that allows us to drive without having to relearn how to operate behind the wheel each time we get into our cars. It’s a very important and valuable part of our minds.
It can be limiting though, but only if you don’t learn how to master it.
THE SUBCONSCIOUS ASSOCIATES WHAT’S FAMILIAR AS “GOOD/SAFE/COMFORTABLE/YAS” AND WHAT’S NEW AS “BAD/SCARY/HARD/WTF, NO”. IT’S JUST HOW THE MIND WORKS, IT’S PRIMAL.
Here’s the thing, you are fully capable of making those new patterns and habits move into the familiar bucket, allowing your mind to operate in the way you truly want it to.
IT STARTS WITH BABY STEPS:
1. Commit to a small daily goal
2. Follow through with that goal for 30 days
3. Push through the resistance when you want to go back to what’s familiar
Repeat, repeat, repeat.
This is the most basic, fool-proof, guaranteed way to make life changes, but you have to start small so that you can build up to completing those big life changes like that 7 step morning routine.
